I. Summary of changes Version 1.1.6.0 (1RWB02WW)
(New) Support for ThinkPad R40 (Machine Types 2722, 2723, 2724), T40, T41, T42, and X31. NOTE: Windows 98 may intermittently hang after suspending and resuming the system with this version of the driver installed. This will be resolved in the next wireless driver package.
II. Install instructions NOTES:
ThinkPad Software Installer does not support this package.
Both of the following components need to be installed:
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter
Intel(R) PROSet II
In some cases, you may need to re-enter SSID and/or WEP keys after updating the driver.
Start Windows 98/98SE.
Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
Click Start, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click System.
Click DeviceManager.
Click Network Adapters and then double-click Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter.
Click Driver and then click Update Driver.
Follow the instructions, specify the location for the driver files where you extracted the package in step 2. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANINT\PROW2100\WINSE-ME If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead.
Click Finish when prompted and restart the system.
Click Start and then click Run.
In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANINT\APPS\PROSET\WN98SEME\PROSET.EXE to install the PROSet II and then click the Next button to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead.
Follow the instructions.
Click Yes when prompted to restart the system.
II. Uninstall instructions
Start Windows 98/98SE.
Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click System, and click Device Manager.
Expand Network adapters.
Right-click Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter.
Choose Uninstall.
Click OK in the Confirm Device Removal window.
III. Determining which version is installed
Click Start, select Settings and then click Control Panel.
Double-click System, and click Device Manager.
Expand Network adapters.
Right-click Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter.
Click the Driver tab. The version and date of the driver are displayed.
