When a wired (Ethernet or Token Ring), network profile is created with Access Connections v2.60, the user may be unable to connect to a LAN or the Internet.
Any model ThinkPad system using Access Connections v2.60
This problem will be fixed in a future version of Access Connections.
The problem only occurs if the Advanced DNS settings are specified in the profile (see figure 1).
When you create the Access Connections location profile for wired LAN, DNS parameters should be specified in the Windows Advanced TCP/IP Settings property page for your wired network (see fig 2).
- These steps are not required for wireless connections.
- If the option of using the current Advanced DNS settings is selected the problem does not occur.
- The problem also only occurs with wired network adapters. It does not occur if a profile is setup for a wireless network adapter.
