Description

This is DOS version of the firmware update that fixes a problem with the HLDS GSA-T20N Multiburner not being able to boot a recovery CD.

Compatible Devices

This package applies to the following systems configured with the HLDS Multiburner GSA-T20N drive (service part number FRU 43C0053, 41N3365):

  • ThinkCentre M55 (type 8791, 8795, 8799, 8803, 8807, 8812, 8009)
  • ThinkCentre M57 (type 6062, 6065, 6071, 6076, 6089, 7103, 9182)
  • ThinkCentre M57p (type 9011, 9014, 9071, 9089, 9162, 9303)

Extracting the package
  1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
  2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file.
Applying the package

Bootable USB Memory Key

  1. Extract the wy04_dos.zip folder to the root directory of your bootable USB memory key
  2. Make sure the USB memory key is at the top of the BIOS startup sequence.
  3. Insert the memory key into a USB slot and start the system.
  4. At the DOS prompt, type CD \wy04_dos
  5. Type DOSWY04. The the flash program may take 3-4 minutes. Do not power off or reboot the system until the update is complete.
  6. During the firmware update, the drive will eject the tray. Do not push it in until after the update is complete.
  7. When the update is complete, power off the system. The firmware update will take effect when the system is powered on.

Bootable DOS Floppy Plus USB Memory Key

  1. Download the wy04_boot_diskette image
  2. Insert a blank diskette into your floppy disk drive
  3. Click on the wy04_boot_diskette icon. The program will create a bootable floppy disk.
  4. Extract the WY04_DOS folder to the root directory of your USB memory key.
  5. Make sure the USB FDC (USB Floppy Disk Control) is at the top of the BIOS startup sequence.
  6. Insert the memory key into one USB slot and your USB Portable Diskette drive into another one. Put the wy04_boot_diskette in the diskette drive. Start the system. The flash update program will start automatically. The the flash program may take 3-4 minutes.
  7. Do not power off or reboot the system until the update is complete.
  8. During the firmware update, the drive will eject the tray. Do not push it in until after the update is complete.
  9. When the update is complete, power off the system. The firmware update will take effect when the system is powered on.

Note : The update will proceed automatically. When the update is complete, you will be given the choice "REBOOT" or "EXIT". Click "REBOOT" to restart the system immediately, or "EXIT" if you wish to restart the system later. The firmware upgrade will take effect after the system is restarted.
