To remove the modem daughter card:

  1. Remove the battery pack:
    1. Turn the computer off.
    2. Disconnect the AC adapter and all cables from the computer.
    3. Close the computer display and turn the computer over.
    4. Unlock battery latch one.
    5. Unlock and hold battery latch two, and then slide out the battery pack.
      Here is a closer look at a battery pack latch.
  2. Remove the keyboard:
    1. Remove the four screws from the bottom of the machine.
    2. Turn the ThinkPad over and open the cover.
    3. Press between the F8 and F9 keys toward the back of the ThinkPad. The front of the keyboard pops up.
    4. Lift up the keyboard.
    5. Disconnect the cable, and then remove the keyboard.
  3. Remove the upper cover:
    1. Turn the system over.
    2. Remove the six screws.
    3. Turn the system over and open the cover.
    4. Disconnect the fingerprint reader cable ZIF connector.
    5. Carefully separate the upper case from the base by lifting along the edges to free the latches.
    6. Place the cover aside.
  4. Remove the modem daughter card:
    1. Remove the two screws.
    2. Lift the card off the connector to gain access to the cable.
    3. Disconnect the cable and place the card on an ESD protected surface.
