Located on the front of the ThinkPad Tablet is a single cover latch.
With the tablet in the upright position, you can see:
- The display
- These Tablet Control buttons:
- Power on button
- Power button Lock
- Control Alt Delete
- Screen rotation
- Tablet Shortcut menu
- Carriage Return
Note: the Escape and Carriage Return buttons are programmable.
- These status indicators:
- Wireless and Bluetooth, for models equipped with these features
- Num lock
- Caps lock
- Drive in use
- Power on
- Battery status
- Standby status
On the right side of the tablet are:
With the display in the laptop position, you can see these buttons across the top of the keyboard bezel:
- Cursor Up and Cursor Down buttons
- Finger Print Reader
- Access IBM
- Volume down
- Volume up
- Power switch
Note: the F5 function key, which is used to toggle the wireless features on and off.
Note: the arrow that indicates the direction of rotation of the display when changing from the laptop to tablet position.
- The TrackPoint pointing stick with TrackPoint buttons.

Located on the right side of the Tablet are:
- PC card slot
- Microphone jack
- Headphone jack
- SD memory slot
- IR port
- Security keyhole

Located on the left side of the ThinkPad are these connectors:
- AC Power
- External monitor
- Powered USB 2.0
- Storage area for the tablet digitizer pen
Located on the bottom are:
- The battery pack
- Battery latches
- Docking station connector
- Mini PCI and Memory access cover
- Speaker grill
- The hard disk drive and locking screw
Also located on the bottom is the screw identification label.
