Lenovo ADD2 DVI-D Monitor Connection Adapter - Overview

ADD2 DVI-D Monitor Connection Adapter

Features and specifications

The Lenovo ADD2 DVI-D Monitor Connector Adapter (43R1985) uses the on-board (integrated) Intel video subsystem allowing users to attach a second monitor to their small form factor, desktop, or tower system. The system has a monitor connected to its monitor connector and with a 2nd monitor attached to the ADD2 DVI-D Connection Adapter. The ADD2 DVI-D Connection adapter is not a graphics adapter with a graphics chip or graphics memory. The ADD2 DVI-D Monitor Connection Adapter is also known as an ADD2 (Advanced Digital Display 2) adapter. The ADD2 DVI-D Monitor Connection Adapter is supported in small form factor, desktop, or tower systems that have an Intel video subsystem. Intel subsystems include G31, G33, G41, Q35 and Q45. The ADD2 DVI-D Monitor Connection Aapter operates in dual-independent display mode or clone mode. Dual-independent display mode allows users to "stretch" or "extend" the workspace across two monitors. Each monitor can display a separate image or PC application. Clone mode displays the same image on both monitors (the monitor attached to the PC system and the monitor attached to the DVI Connection Adapter).

  • PCI Express x16 lane support
  • Low-profile or full-height adapter designed for various system form factors (small form factor, desktop, and tower)
  • DVI-D (DVI digital only) for attachment of digital monitor
  • Intel ADD2 (Advanced Digital Display 2) design allows users to connect a monitor to the system's VGA monitor port and to the ADD2 DVI-D Monitor Connection Adapter for use in a dual-independent display (DID) mode or in clone display mode.
  • Supports High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)

Notes:

  • ThinkCentre M57: This adapter is supported by the ThinkCentre M57 Ultra Small Form Factor (USFF), but not as a customer installable option. The adapter must be installed when USFF is shipped from Lenovo.
  • ThinkCentre M58/M58p: This adapter disables the ThinkCentre M58/M58p DisplayPort monitor port.
  • Lenovo ADD2 DVI-D Monitor Connection Adapter supports attachment of DVI digital, not VGA analog, monitor. As a result, the Lenovo ADD2 DVI-D Monitor Connection Adapter does not support attachment of a DVI-to-VGA Monitor Adapter (40Y7611, 41U3939).
Monitor Compatibility

Monitors that offer DVI-D Digital connection.

Note: This adapter supports attachment of digital, not analog, monitors. Therefore, the Lenovo ADD2 DVI-D Monitor Connection Adapter does not support attachment of a DVI-to-VGA Monitor Adapter.
