System cannot boot into Microsoft Windows 7 operating system while pending on "Boot Menu/Application Menu" page with Microsoft Windows 8 BIOS

 

Symptom

The ThinkPad system cannot boot into the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system while pending on the "Boot Menu/Application Menu" page with Microsoft Windows 8 BIOS.

 

Affected Configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

ThinkPad:

  • Edge E130, E135
  • Edge E330, E335
  • Edge E430, E435
  • Edge E530, E535
  • L330
  • T430u
Applies to
  • Microsoft Windows 7
Solution
  1. Power on and press F1 to access the BIOS Setup and then select the Restart menu.
  2. Change the operating system Optimized Default to Disabled.
  3. Select "Yes" at the Attention prompt and then press ENTER.
  4. Press F9 to load the BIOS Default.
  5. Select "Yes" at the Confirmation prompt and then press ENTER.
  6. Press F10 to save the setting.
  7. Select "Yes" at the Confirmation prompt and then press ENTER.
