BSOD (Blue screen of death) when awakening from sleep mode in Windows XP

Symptom:

After exiting sleep mode a BSOD (Blue screen of death) appears with 0x44 error code.

AFFECTED CONFIGURATIONS:

The above symptom may occur on the following systems:

All Idea Laptops

Under the following operating system:

Microsoft Windows XP

SOLUTION:

This may happen when there are connected new hardware devices externally, like USB mouse, external camera, etc. This problem may occur if the USB device uses a driver written using the Kernel Mode Driver Framework (KMDF) version 1.7 or earlier. This problem is resolved in the Kernel Mode Driver Framework (KMDF) version 1.9 available in Windows 7.

In order to solve this problem update the drivers for the new hardware devices that have been added, or in worst case disable the USB device. More detailed information you can find on Microsoft KB .
