For B5 Series and A3 Series systems, Bluetooth keyboard and mouse may fail to connect or might disconnect intermittently

SYMPTOM:

Bluetooth keyboard and mouse may fail to connect to the system, even after following the setup instructions provided by Lenovo. Occasionally, these Bluetooth devices might disconnect intermittently.

The setup instructions to configure the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse can be found in the system User's Guide or Flyer included with the system.

AFFECTED CONFIGURATIONS:

The above symptoms may occur on IdeaCentre A Series and IdeaCentre B Series systems manufactured before May 2010. These systems were preloaded with Microsoft Windows 7 and configured with Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse.

SOLUTION:

Download and install the following three Bluetooth software updates provided on the links below. Please, make sure to download and install each update in the order listed:

1. Firmware update to Bluetooth adapter.

2. Bluetooth driver update

3. Bluetooth KB/mouse patch for Windows 7

1. Update Bluetooth adapter Firmware to level 1103 or higher, then reboot computer.

(1) Download Bluetooth adapter fireware from the following web link:

(2) Locate the file you just downloaded.

(3) Double click the file to run Bluetooth fireware update application. A Windows Security window as Fig.1 will prompt, click "Install" to update fireware.

(4) A Program Compatibility Assistant window as Fig.2 will prompt, click "Cancel".

How to check Bluetooth adapter fireware version?

Click "Start" button. In the search box, type "Device Manager", and then, in the list of results, click "Device Manager" to open it. Locate to "Bluetooth Radios-BCM2046 Bluetooth", double click "BCM2046 Bluetooth", open "BCM2046 Bluetooth properties", open "Details tab" to select "Hardware IDs" in the drop-down property list, the last four bit after "REV_" is the fireware version, as Fig.3

2. Update Bluetooth driver to version 6.2.1.1800 or higher

(1) Download Bluetooth driver from the web: $PAGE_LINK[downloads/detail]&LegacyDocID=2251

(2) Locate the file you just downloaded

(3) Double click the file to install the driver and follow the instruction to finish the driver installation.

How to check Bluetooth driver version?

Click "Start". In the search box, type "Programs and Features", and then, in the list of results, click "Programs and Features". to open it. You can find XXX and its version in the list.

3. Install Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse patch for windows 7

For IdeaCentre B500 and B505:

(1) Download Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse patch for B500 and B505 from the link bellow:

(2) Locate the file you just downloaded.

(3) Double click the exe file to run the patch. A black command window will pop up and then auto-close, which indicates the patch has been installed successfully.

For IdeaCentre A300 and A305:

(1) Download Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse patch for A300 and A305 from the link bellow:

(2) Locate the file you just downloaded.

(3) Double click the EXE file to run the patch. A black command window will pop up and then auto-close, which indicates the patch has been installed successfully.

(4) A Program Compatibility Assistant window as Fig.2 may prompt, click "Cancel".
