Unable to remove user account password after installing "Port Locker"

 

SYMPTOM:

When removing the password of user account in Control Panel, it prompted that: Windows cannot remove the password. Password and/or account policies require the account with a password.

AFFECTED CONFIGURATIONS:

The above symptom may occur on the following systems:

IdeaPad V360

Lenovo V460

  

Under the following operating systems:

Microsoft Windows XP

Microsoft Windows 7

 

VALID REGIONS/COUNTRIES:

Worldwide

 

SOLUTION:

The root cause is the installation of Port Locker.

When installing this software, it hints the password you’ve created will become your Windows password. Removing password will be prohibited.

To resolve this issue, you will need to uninstall Port Locker:

In windows XP, click “Start” --> “Control Panel” --> “Add or Remove Programs”

In Windows 7, click “Start” --> "Control Panel” --> “Uninstall a program” under “Programs” view by Category.
