Password Manager program does not work when you are logging on to a Web site that requires the logon information using the Internet Explorer 9.0 Web browser

 

Symptom

If you install the Internet Explorer 9.0 Web browser and Password Manager on your computer with Windows 7 Operating System and open the Internet Explorer Web browser to navigate a Web site that requires the logon information, Password Manager will not prompt you to store the logon information after you enter it.

This is because when you open the Internet Explorer, it will detect the Password Manager extension installed on your computer and displays a notification in the bottom area to ask you whether to enable it. If you do not click Enable, the Password Manager extension will be disabled by default. When you open the Internet Explorer the next time, it will not display the notification again. Therefore, Password Manager will not work when using the Internet Explorer.

Affected configurations

Any computer with the following configuration:

  • Internet Explorer 9.0
  • Password Manager
  • Windows 7 Operating System
Solution

To solve the problem, click Enable when the Internet Explorer displays the notification to enable the Password Manager extension.

If you did not click Enable, you can also manually enable the Password Manager extension in the Internet Options window.

To manually enable the Password Manager extension, do the following:

  1. Open your Internet Explorer Web browser.
  2. Press Alt to display the Internet Explorer menu bar if needed.
  3. Click Tools > Internet Options. The Internet Options window is displayed.
  4. Click the Programs tab, and then Click Manage add-ons. The Manage Add-ons window is displayed.
  5. Click Toolbars and Extensions in the left pane. A list of all extensions is displayed in the right pane.
  6. Select IePasswordmanagerHelper Class from the list and then click Enable. The Enable Add-on dialog box is displayed.
  7. Click Enable to save your configuration.
  8. Select Lenovo Password Manager from the list and then click Enable. The Enable Add-on dialog box is displayed.
  9. Click Enable to save your configuration.
