After updating system BIOS, the date and time in BIOS Setup may be reset to the default settings - ThinkCentre M72e, M72e Tiny, M72z, M62z, ThinkCentre Edge 72z, Edge 62z, Edge 92z, Edge 72

Symptom

After updating system BIOS through one of the methods on the Lenovo eSupport site (flash from operating system, flash from CD ISO image, or flash from USB flash package), the date and time in the BIOS Setup may be reset to the default settings (Jan 01 2011 12:00AM or Jan 01 2010 12:00AM).

Affected configurations

The above symptom is associated to the following systems:

  • ThinkCentre M72e
  • ThinkCentre M72e Tiny
  • ThinkCentre M72z
  • ThinkCentre M62z,
  • ThinkCentre Edge 72
  • ThinkCentre Edge 72z
  • ThinkCentre Edge 62z
  • ThinkCentre Edge 92z

System is configured with:

  • BIOS level equal, or lower than below
  • M72e (27A)
  • M72e Tiny (22A)
  • M72e PCI (28A)
  • M72z, Edge 72z (18A)
  • M62z (17A)
  • Edge62z (14A)
  • Edge92Z (17A)

Operating Systems:

  • All Operating Systems
Solution

None

Workaround

The user should set the date and time manually.  Once the date and time is set, they will be saved.  This issue only occurs one time after the system BIOS has been updated.

Additional Information

This is a known issue with the system BIOS update.  The Development Team is working to resolve this issue.
