Y500 ultrabay graphics card is not visible in Device Manager
Symptom

Y500 has an optional graphics card for the ultrabay. When installed, the second graphics card is not visible in Device Manager. Due to this, you can get confused whether both graphic cards work correctly.

 

Affected configurations

IdeaPad Y500 with Windows 8 or Windows 7

 

Solution

It is normal for the ultrabay graphics card not to be shown in Device Manager. To see if both graphic cards are working normally, follow the next steps:

1. Press Start and type dxdiag in the search bar.

2. Go to Display tab, and under Approx. Total Memory, there should be 4000 MB if both graphic cards are working.

If customer takes out the ultrabay one, then only 2000 MB will be visible.
