Instructions For Activating An Office License Purchased With A New PC

Steps for correctly activating Office 2013 with an MPI (Microsoft Product Identifier) Card or Office 2013 Media

  • ThinkCentre
  • ThinkStation
  • ThinkPad
  • Idea Tablet
  • IdeaPad

Operating Systems:

  • Microsoft Windows 7
  • Micorsoft Windows8

 

Solution

[Scenario 1]


Install Office using MPI Card or Office Media purchased with a new PC

Step 1: Please select Already purchased a different version of Office 

Caution: If you selected I already purchased Office 2010 and tried to enter activation code, you will see an error stating This isn’t a Microsoft Office 2010 product key (see below). Please close this dialogue box and restart the process.

 

 

Step 2: Please select the Option Purchased the new Office at the same time as your new PC

Caution: If you selected Go online for help at any time, please follow steps below, first selecting Microsoft Office 2013 Suite and then selecting Office Comes with a new PC

 

Step 3: Please select Download and have your activation code ready

 

Step 4: Please enter your product key (present on the MPI card or Office disk packaging) and select Get Started.

Caution: If you experience the Product key not recognized error shown below, please make sure that you have entered the correct 25 characters.

 

Step 5: After validation, please sign in with your Microsoft account or create a new account.

 

Step 6: Please select Country and Language

 

Step 7: Please download office to your local drive

 

Step 8: Please follow prompts and accept the License Agreement. Your new software will be available once the download is complete

 

[Scenario 2]


Activate Office using an MPI Card or Office Media on a system that had Office 365 Trial software installed

Step 1: Please unregister the system from your Office 365 subscription or allow the subscription to expire.

Status can be checked by going into account tab under File Menu within your office application.

 

Step 2: After the system has been unregistered, you will receive Product is deactivated notice when you open an application (Please note this message may take some time).

Please select option Enter Key

 

Step 3: Enter available activation codes and then you will receive a message stating the product is for a different version of office (Office Home and Business 2013 is shown in the example). Please verify the software version and select Install this product instead.

 

Step 4: Please follow prompts and your new software will be available once the download is complete

 

If you are unable to activate Office 2013 using the previously described methongs, please try the following:


Delete Office 2013 and Reinstall

Step 1: Please Delete Office 2013 software from Add Remove Program

  • Windows7:  Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Uninstall a program
  • Windows8:  Advance Contents Menu (“WinKey” & “X”) ->Programs and Features -> Uninstall a Program

 

Step 2:  Remove traces of OFFICE 2013 or OFFICE 365
