Instructions for activating an Office 2013 License after a system board replacement - ThinkCentre, ThinkStation, ThinkPad
Symptom

The system board was replaced and Microsoft Office indicates it is not activated.

Affected configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

  • ThinkCentre
  • ThinkStation
  • ThinkPad
System is configured with:
  • Microsoft Office 2013 preload or OEM disk

Operating System
  • Microsoft Windows 7
  • Microsoft Windows 8
Solution

In most cases, if the user is connected to the Internet, activation will occur silently in the background upon opening any of the Office programs.  When the user starts any of the Office programs, the user may see the Activation Wizard.  The user should utilize the Telephone option in the Activation Wizard to contact the Activation Center if it will not accept the Key or activate automatically.
