Microsoft Windows 8 Skype Metro App: User cannot be added in video conference
Symptom

On Skype Metro App, two users can use the video conference call feature.  Three or more users cannot use the video conference feature and instead can only perform the audio call feature.  The Skype Metro App user cannot be added in the video conference call.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to the Skype Metro App on Microsoft Windows 8 using the MSN account and click the "I have a Skype account" button.
  2. Make sure that the user is in "Available" state.
  3. Launch Skype 6.0 via the Desktop and System Task Tray.
  4. Go to Conversation and click on Add People to add users to the video conference.
  5. Find the name of the users who are logged in to the Skype Metro App.  Notice that Skype cannot see the logged in users.
Affected configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

  • ThinkCentre
  • ThinkStation
  • ThinkServer
  • ThinkPad
  • Idea Tablet
  • IdeaPad
  • IdeaCentre

Affected Systems (machine types, model types):

  • This is a Skype design.
