README for ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Calibration Program

This package updates the Touch Panel firmware to the latest version and calibrates Touch Panel. This package fixes the symptom that the touch panel function may not work.

If the Touch Panel firmware is already the latest version, the firmware is not updated.  Only calibration is executed.

If you got "Find Device Fail!" message when this program is executed, touch device is defective, or touch device isn't in the system.  Please check your system.  If it is a touch model, please send it for repair.


Calibration Instructions


  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to calibrate for the touch panel.
Download and Calibration

This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. Please use the mouse, the TrackPoint or the click pad. Do not touch the panel during calibration.

[Downloading file]

  1. Select the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. In the window to choose Run or Save, select Save.
  4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to, and select Save.A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.

 [Extracting file]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account.
  2. Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.
  3. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. In the Select Destination Location window, select Next. If you would like to select a different folder, select Browse.
  6. In the Ready to Install window, select Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.


  1. Make sure the checkbox next to "Run ..... now" is checked and select Finish.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete calibration and restart the computer.

     IMPORTANT: Do not touch the panel during calibration.  
     IMPORTANT: Make sure to restart the computer after calibration.

  Finally delete the file saved in the step 4.


Manual Calibration again
  1. Locate the folder selected in step 9 of Download and Calibration.
  2. Double-click eGalaxHWCalibration.exe.


    Determining which Version is Installed
    1. Locate the folder selected in step 9 of CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS.
    2. Right-click eGalaxHWCalibration.exe and select Properties.
    3. Select Details tab.
    4. Check the version of upper part of the window.



    After this program is executed and the program window is closed, the warning message "Program Compatibility Assistant.  This program might not have installed correctly" might be displayed.  You can ignore this message.
