A DVI-to-VGA monitor adapter is not supported on the Dual-Link DVI-D monitor connector. DVI-to-VGA monitor adapters are supported on DVI-I only, not DVI-D ports.
ThinkPad and DVI Pass-Through using ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock (2504) and ThinkPad Advanced Dock (2503)
Selected ThinkPad models offer DVI Pass-Through capability.
The first monitor must be analog and attaches to the VGA port on the dock.
The second monitor must be digital and attaches to the DVI-D port on the dock.
The ThinkPad display is disabled (screen is blank).
The following ThinkPads are supported by the ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock (2504) and ThinkPad Advanced Dock (2503). The table lists which ThinkPad systems support DVI Pass-through.
