How to determine a driver version using Device Manager

Many driver versions can be determined using Device Manager. This document covers the steps necessary to determine a driver version using Device Manager in Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows XP.

Determining the driver version in Windows Vista
  1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.

  4. Click Device Manager.

  5. Expand the appropriate category.

  6. Double-click the appropriate device.
  7. Click the Driver tab to display the version.

  1. Click Start, then right-click My Computer.
  2. Click the Hardware tab.
  3. Click the Device Manager button.
