Lenovo USB-to-DVI Monitor Adapter (45K5296) driver cannot be installed when the PC's username includes apostrophe character ( ' )
Symptom

Reproduce steps:

  1. Login the Operating System (OS) with the user name includes apostrophe character ( ' ).
  2. Under Windows OS, follow the instruction to install the Lenovo USB-to-DVI Monitor Adapter driver. There is an error message pop up Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable., and the driver install will stop.
Affected configurations

All Lenovo systems support Lenovo USB-to-DVI Monitor Adapter.
Impacted OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) and Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit).

Solution

Remove the apostrophe character ( ' ) from the username and then install the Lenovo USB-to-DVI Monitor Adapter driver.
