Battery life appears to be too short in the Sleep power-state. There is a device setting that can be changed to improve the amount of time the system is able to Sleep before depleting the battery. Energy Star compliant ThinkPad systems running the Windows Vista and XP Professional and XP Home operating system. The system is configured with adapter, optical FRU (when applicable).
As part of Energy Star 4.0, Lenovo is now required to ship systems with Wake on LAN enabled from the Sleep state (Start -> Shut Down -> Sleep or Standby). This setting can be disabled from within Windows from Device Manager. First, expand the Network Adapters tree, then double-click on the Ethernet controller. 
On the Power Management tab, unchecked the second check-box, Allow this device to wake the computer. 
With this checkbox unchecked, Wake on LAN is disabled from the Sleep power state, and the system will be able to remain in the Sleep power state for longer before the battery is depleted. Note: Wake on LAN from Sleep is independentof the BIOS setting for Wake on LAN. The BIOS setting only controls waking from Hibernate or Off power states.
