USB 2.0 Memory Key - Unable to access files after Suspend/Resume and Hibernate on ThinkPads and Desktops
Symptom

The 64MB or 256MB USB 2.0 Memory Key is plugged into a USB port during a suspend/resume or hibernation operation and the MyKey or KeySafe browse window is open. Upon resuming from a suspend or hibernation, the MyKey or KeySafe browse window will be visible, but the files being shown will not be accessible. This occurs because ThinkPad and Desktop systems turn off power to the USB ports during a suspend/resume or hibernate operation.

Affected configurations
  • USB 2.0 64MB Memory Key (Marketing part number 22P9024, Replacement part number (FRU) 22P9030)
  • 256 MB Memory Key (Marketing part number 22P9025, FRU 22P9031)
  • ThinkPad or Desktop system
  • Microsoft Windows 2000
  • Microsoft Windows XP
Level 3 heading

To access the files, refresh the MyKey or KeySafe browse window by pressing the F5 key, or by clicking the Refresh option (located on the browse window by clicking View on the drop down menu and selecting Refresh). If the Memory Key was in the 'private area', it will default automatically back to the 'public area' and you can use KeySafe to log back into the 'private area'. No data will be lost during this process. If this process does not work, please remove and then reinsert the Memory Key into the USB port.
