General information
The 2x/4x/24x CD-Rewritable (CD-RW) drive is a triple-function drive that provides the latest CD rewriting capability, CD recording capability, and the function of a 24X-10X CD-ROM drive. Up to 650 MB of CD-R media (unformatted) may be recorded over once, at 4X speed, or CD-RW media may be rewritten as many as 1,000 times at 2X speed. This 5-1/4-inch, half-high internal drive functions as a high-capacity, removable media, "floppy replacement" drive. It is compatible in CD-R format with almost all currently installed CD-ROM drives and in CD-RW format with 24X, and higher, CD-ROM drives. The CD-RW Option Kit also includes:

• Adaptec's Easy Creator and DirectCD CD mastering and writing software
• One blank CD-R and one blank CD-RW for instant usability in recording large data files, graphics, Internet data, and other storage-consuming applications

The CD-RW Option Kit makes it easy for you to customize and personalize your audio CDs. For example, you can compile a CD with your choice of music. The IBM 2X/4X/24X CD-Rewritable Internal IDE Option Kit offers a full, compatibility tested PC CD-writing solution. Features include:

Hardware requirements for Non-IBM systems
The IBM 2X/4X/24X CD-Rewritable Internal IDE Option Kit is supported in AT-compatible PC's with available IDE ports that adhere to the Enhanced IDE Interface (ATA-2 or later). Some vendor specific mounting hardware may be required.
