LCD panel, LCD cable, hinges, and ALPET sheets removal and installation - ThinkPad R500

For access, remove these FRUs in order:

  1. Battery.
  2. Palm rest or palm rest with fingerprint reader.
  3. Keyboard.
  4. PCI Express Mini Card for wireless LAN
  5. Keyboard bezel and speakers
  6. LCD assembly.
  7. LCD front bezel.

Remove the hinges (a).

Cable routing: When you install the LCD panel, make sure that the antenna cables are routed as shown in this figure.

Remove the ALPET sheets (b).

Note: The ALPET sheets are secured with a double-faced adhesive tape.

Remove the LCD cable (c).

When installing: Make sure that the connector is attached firmly.
