Keyboard bezel and speakers removal and installation - ThinkPad R500

For access, remove these FRUs in order:

  1. Battery.
  2. Palm rest or palm rest with fingerprint reader.
  3. Keyboard.

Note: Speakers are attached to the underside of the keyboard bezel.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

In step (3), release the wireless antenna cables from the cable guide.

In step (5), strip the securing tapes off. Then detach the speaker connector (6).

Step 4

When installing: Make sure that speaker connector is attached firmly.

In step (7), detach the claws. Then remove the keyboard bezel in the direction shown by arrow (8).

Step 5

When installing: Make sure that all the claws are attached firmly.
