This section provides instructions on how to replace the front panel connector assembly.

1. Open the computer cover. See "Cover removal".
2. Remove the front bezel. See "Front bezel removal".
3. Remove any installed adapters. See "Adapter card removal and installation".
4. To have easier access to the computer, lay it down on its side.
5. Remove the plastic adapter retainer in the front of the computer.
6. Remove the diskette drive or card reader if installed in this computer. See "Diskette drive or optional card reader removal and installation".
7. To have easier access to the front panel connector cables, remove the hard disk drives. See "Hard disk drive removal and installation".
8. Remove the screw holding the front panel connector assembly.
9. Note the routing of the front panel connector assembly cables. They are routed between the front frame and the hard disk drive bay.
10. Disconnect the front panel connector assembly cables from the system board. See "Locating system board connectors and components".
11. Rotate the front panel connector assembly outward as shown and remove from the computer. Be careful to not damage the cable connectors when pulling the cables out between the front frame and the hard disk drive bay.

12. Slide the front panel connector assembly cables out the opening in the front of the computer.
13. Route the front panel connector assembly cables and then position the new front panel connector assembly
14. Install the screw holding the front panel connector assembly.
15. Replace the hard disk drives. See "Hard disk drive removal and installation".
16. Replace the diskette drive or card reader if it was removed. See "Diskette drive or optional card reader removal and installation".
17. Connect the front panel connector assembly cables to the system board. See "Locating system board connectors and components".
18. Replace the plastic adapter retainer in the front of the computer.
19. Replace any adapters that were removed. See "Adapter card removal and installation".
20. Replace the front bezel. See "Front bezel removal".
21. Go to "Completing the FRU replacement".
