If your computer has a 14.1 inch display, replace a pre-installed CD/DVD drive by doing as follows: - Turn off the computer; then disconnect the AC adapter and all cables from the computer.
Note: Wait for a few minutes, until the inside of the computer cools, before you start the following procedures.
- Close the computer display, and turn the computer over.
- Remove the battery.
- If the cover of the memory slot is secured with one screw, as shown in the next drawing, remove the screw (1), and then remove the cover (2).

If the cover of the memory slot is secured with three screws, as shown in the next drawing, remove the screws (1), and then remove the cover (2).

- Remove the screw (3), and then press the edge of the drive outwards, using the tip of a thin screwdriver (4). Pull out the CD/DVD drive (5).

To install a repaired CD/DVD drive or a new one, do as follows: - Slide the drive into the bay, press it firmly to the connector (1), and tighten the screw (2).

- Replace the cover of the memory slot by aligning the front side of the cover first (3), and closing the cover (4). If you removed three screws to remove the cover, tighten the screws (5).

- Put the battery in place.
- Turn the computer over again. Connect the AC adapter and cables to the computer; then turn the computer on.
If your computer has a 15.4 inch display, replace a pre-installed CD/DVD drive by doing as follows: - Turn off the computer; then disconnect the AC adapter and all cables from the computer.
Note: Wait for a few minutes, until the inside of the computer cools, before you start the following procedures. - Close the computer display, and turn the computer over.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the screw (1), and then press the edge of the drive outwards, using the tip of a thin screw driver (2). Pull out the CD/DVD drive (3).

To install a repaired CD/DVD drive or a new one, do as follows: - Slide the drive into the bay, press it firmly to the connector (1), and tighten the screw (2).

- Put the battery in place.
- Turn the computer over again. Connect the AC adapter and cables to the computer; then turn the computer on.
