Memory installation movie

To remove the standard or optional DIMM:

  1. First, remove the battery pack as follows:
    1. Turn the computer off.
    2. Disconnect the AC adapter and all cables from the computer.
    3. Close the computer display and turn the computer over.
    4. Hold the latch in the unlocked position.
    5. Grasp the battery pack and pull it from the rear of the machine.
  2. Next, remove the Palm Rest as follows:
    1. Remove the four screws from the underside of the machine.
    2. Turn the machine over.
    3. Lift the rear edge of the palm rest, then rotate it up and toward the front to clear the tabs along the front edge of the system base.
    4. Carefully lift it high enough to disconnect the TouchPad connector.
  3. Next, remove the DIMM as follows:
    1. Carefully lift the DIMM cover from its channel.
    2. Release the locking latches allowing the DIMM to pop up.
    3. Pull the DIMM from the slot and place it on the ESD protected surface.
      Use the same procedure to remove the optional DIMM if required.
