Additional information
The USB Port Replicator was not designed to be removed from the system like a normal USB only device ("Safely Remove Hardware" located in the system tray). The replicator is designed to just unplugged from system, like any serial, VGA, or ethernet option. You do not need to use safe removal. It is like undocking a system, you just unplug the USB cable from the system and when you come back replug to the system, then both system and replicator can work properly. You do not need to unplug any of the devices attached to the replicator at those times. However, per normal procedures any active programs running on those devices should be shut down or stopped.
