With the cover open, you can see:

• The display
• The ThinkLight
• Stereo speakers
• These status indicators:
  • Wireless and Bluetooth, for models equipped with these features
  • WWAN For models equipped with this feature
  • Num lock
  • Caps lock
  • Drive in use
  • Power on
  • Battery status
  • Power status
  • Standby status
• You can see these control buttons across the top of the keyboard bezel:
  • Mute
  • Volume-down
  • Volume-up
  • ThinkVantage
  • Power control

You can also see the icons around the perimeter of the keyboard bezel that identify the corresponding ports on the side.

In the lower section of the keyboard, you can see the UltraNav navigation system which includes the TrackPoint pointing stick with TrackPoint buttons and the TouchPad and TouchPad buttons, and the finger print reader.

Located on the top of the ThinkPad are these status indicators:

• Battery
• Power
• Standby

Located on the front of the ThinkPad are:

• Infrared
• Wireless on or off
• Single cover latch
• 3in1 digital media indicator
• 3in1 digital media reader

Located on the right side of the ThinkPad are:

• S-Video out connector
• Ultrabay Enhanced device shown with a DVD R/W and CD R/W
• Ultrabay status indicator
• Ultrabay Enhanced media release button
• Ultrabay Enhanced device eject lever
• Ultrabay Enhanced Release latch
• 2 USB
• Key lock

Located on the rear are the:

• 1 USB port and the
• 20 volt power connector
  

Located on the left side of the ThinkPad are these connectors:

• External Monitor
• Modem
• Ethernet with associated link and status LEDs
• Audio out
• Microphone
• IEEE 1394
• ExpressCard and PC Card slots
• ExpressCard and PC Card eject buttons

Located on the bottom are:

• The battery pack
• Battery latch
• Docking station connector
• The hard disk drive and locking screw

With the keyboard and bezel removed, the following components can be seen:
