You can increase the storage capacity of your system by replacing the hard drive (HD) with one of greater capacity. You can purchase a new HD from your reseller or marketing representative.

Attention: The drive is very sensitive. Incorrect handling can cause damage and permanent loss of data on the hard drive.

Notes:

• Before removing the HD, make a backup copy of all the information on the drive, and then turn the system off.
• Replace the HD only if you upgrade it or have it repaired. The connectors and bay of the HD were not designed for frequent changes, or drive swapping.
• Do not drop the drive or subject it to physical shocks.
• Put the drive on a material, such as soft cloth, that absorbs the physical shock.
• Do not apply pressure to the cover of the drive.
• Do not touch the connector.
• Never remove the drive while the system is operating, in standby mode, or in hibernation mode.

To replace the HD for a ThinkPad Z60m Series system, do the following:

1. Turn off the system; then disconnect the ac adapter and all cables from the system.
2. Close the system display, and turn the system over.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Remove the screw that secures the hard drive bay cover.
   
   
   
5. Remove the hard drive cover.
   
   
   
6. Disconnect the hard drive by pulling on the tab.
   
   
   
7. Remove the hard drive from the bay.
   
   
   
8. Detach the side rubbers from the hard drive.
   
   
   
9. Attach the side rubbers to a new hard drive.
   Note: Make sure to attach the side rubbers to the new drive before inserting it into the hard drive bay.
10. Insert the hard drive into the hard drive bay; then firmly install it.
11. Replace the hard drive bay cover and reinstall the screw.
12. Reinstall the battery.
13. Turn the system over again. Connect the ac adapter and cables to the system.
