Software Installer provides the install wizard for this package.
In some cases, you may need to re-enter SSID and/or WEP keys after updating the driver.
Access Connections version 3.71 or later needs to be installed to configure this device.
The following software must be updated when ThinkVantage Access Connections is used:
Hotkey Features for Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP version 1.11.0402 or later.
If you currently use IEEE 802.1x authentication on Windows XP Service Pack 1 and do not use WPA encryption, Lenovo recommends you uninstall Q826942 (WPA Supplicant update rollup package in Windows XP) and Q815485 (WPA Wireless Security Update in Windows XP). This does not apply if you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2.
To check if Q826942 or Q815485 is installed and to uninstall it:
Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
Click Start and then click Control Panel.
Click Add or Remove Programs.
Click Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) Q826942 or Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) Q815485 if it is listed under Currently installed programs.
Click Remove and follow the instructions on the screen. Note: The above action will remove all the fixes within the update rollup package, Q826942. You may need to re-install the other specific hotfixes you expect for this rollup package.
Note: If you use Windows 2000, please stop the Microsoft Wireless Configuration service if it is already installed.
To check if the service is installed and to stop it:
Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Administrative Tools then Services.
Double-click Wireless Configuration if it is listed.
Change Startup type to Disabled if it is not.
Click OK.
Note: You may need to re-enter security information after updating the Wireless LAN driver.
To install:
Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with administrative privileges.
Extract this package onto the hard drive.
Click Start and then click Run.
In the run dialog window, type: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANINT\SETUP.EXE and click OK to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead.
Follow the instructions.
Unattended install
Note: This procedure is intended only for system administrators.
Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with administrative privileges.
Extract this package onto the hard drive.
Click Start and then click Run.
In the run dialog window, type: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANINT\SETUP.EXE and click OK to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead.
Follow the instructions.
Uninstallation instructions
Start Windows 2000/XP. Logon with administrative privileges.
Click Start, select Settings and click Control Panel.
Click Add or Remove Programs
Click Intel Sebring API if it is listed under Currently installed programs
Click Remove and follow the instructions on the screen.
Click Start, select Settings and click Control Panel.
Double-click System, select the Hardware tab, and click DeviceManager.
Expand Networkadapters.
Right-click Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter.
Click Uninstall and follow the instructions.
Determining which version is installed
Click Start, select Settings and click Control Panel.
Double-click System, select the Hardware tab, and click Device Manager.
Double-click Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter under Network Adapters.
Click the Driver tab. The version and date of the driver are displayed.
Known Issues and Solutions
ThinkVantage Access Connections will not work if Windows XP Software Network Bridge connection is created. To recover the ThinkVantage Access Connections function:
Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
Click Start, select Settings, click Control Panel, then click Network Connections.
Confirm that the following Device Name belongs to "Network Bridge" Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter.
Right-click its "Name" (Wireless Network Connection).
Click Remove from Bridge.
Confirm that it belongs to "LAN or High-Speed Internet".
Right-click its "Name" again and click Properties.
The Wireless Network connection Properties tab will open and under the General tab, Check "WLAN Transport".
Restart the system.
Installing and deleting server/client certificate may not take effect immediately. To recover, restart the system.
