X4 UltraBase Dock locations overview movie

Located on the top cover of the ThinkPad x40 system is a single cover latch and these status indicators:

• Battery
• Standby

Located on the right side of the ThinkPad are the:

• PC card slot
• External microphone hole, this access allows the microphone to be used when the cover is closed
• Microphone jack
• Stereo headphone jack
• SD card slot
• Infrared port
• USB connector
• Ethernet connector
• Modem connector
• Security key hole

Located on the left side of the ThinkPad are these ports:

• AC power connector
• External monitor connector
• USB
• Powered USB 2.0

Located on the bottom of the ThinkPad are:

• The battery pack
• The battery latches
• The docking station connector
• The mini PCI and memory access cover
• Speaker
• The hard disk drive locking screw

With the cover open you can see:

• The 12.1 XGA TFT display
• The ThinkLight.
• These buttons across the top of the keyboard bezel:
  • Access IBM
  • Volume down
  • Volume up
  • Mute
• Note: the F5 function key, which is used to toggle the wireless features on and off.
• These status indicators:
  • Wireless and Bluetooth for models equipped with these features.
  • Num lock
  • Caps lock
  • Drive in use
  • Power on
  • Battery status
  • Standby status
• The power switch
• The TrackPoint pointing stick
• The TrackPoint buttons
• The microphone
