  1. Turn the machine off.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter.

Note: ThinkPad T42/p, and T43/p systems with a 15.0-inch display have only one battery latch, as shown below.

To remove the battery pack:

  1. Unlock the center battery latch.
  2. Unlock and hold the end battery latch.
  3. Slide out the battery.
