This document contains instructions for removing and installing the memory on your ThinkPad TransNote computer.
Warning: Before you start installing a module, touch a metal table or a grounded metal object. This action reduces any static electricity from your body. The static electricity could damage the DIMM.
Note: For ThinkPad TransNote systems, use only a PC100 DIMM in your computer. It will not accept a PC66 DIMM.
Removing the memory
Turn off the computer; then disconnect the AC adapter and all cables from the computer.
Remove the battery pack.
Place the computer display in an upright position as indicated by 1.
Remove the rubber cap covering the screw on the cover of the memory slot as indicated by 2, using a small flathead screwdriver.
Loosen the screw as indicated by 3. then remove the cover, using your finger to pull up the side of the cover that the screw hole is on.
Remove the cover as indicated by 4, using your finger to pull up the side of the cover that the screw hole is on.
If the DIMM is already in the memory slot, remove it to replace the new one by pressing out on the latches on both edges of the socket at same time as indicated in 5..
Remove the DIMM as indicated by 6.
Replace the memory slot cover; tighten the screw, then replace rubber cap on the screw.
Installing the memory
Perform steps 2 through 8.
Insert DIMM at an angle of about 25 degrees, as indicated by 1 and 2, then press it firmly
Replace the memory slot cover; tighten the screw, then replace rubber cap on the screw.
