Hard disk drive removal - ThinkPad X20

This document contains instructions for removing and installing the hard disk drive on your ThinkPad X20, X21, X22, X23 or X24 computer.

Removing the hard disk drive

Remove battery pack
Remove the coin screw by rotating it counterclockwise as indicated by 1.
Pull the head of connector of the hard disk drive to remove the drive as indicated in 2.
NOTE: The hard disk drive is attached to the cover.
Remove hard disk drive from the connector and all four screws on each corner.

Installing the hard disk drive

Insert the new hard disk drive into the bay. Make sure you connect the drive firmly.
Reinstall the screws.
Turn the computer right side up, and power it on.
