The new IBM 8X/4X/32X CD-Rewritable (CD-RW) Internal IDE White Option Kit delivers a triple-function drive with the latest CD-Recordable (CD-R) and CD-RW capabilities. This new drive offers industry-leading performance by:

• Writing to CD-R media at speeds up to 8X
• Writing and rewriting CD-RW media up to 1,000 times at 4X speed
• Reading at speeds of 32X to 8X, depending on the CD media being read

Note: Actual playback speed will vary and is often less than the maximum possible.

All this functionality is offered with extensive compatibility-testing between the drive, the CD software, and IBM systems currently and previously shipped.

IBM's latest high-capacity, removable media drive enables users to mobilize their data and expand their desktop by writing, backing up, storing, or archiving up to 650MB of data on each CD-R or CD-RW media. The IBM CD-RW drive includes Adaptec's Easy CD Creator and DirectCD CD mastering and writing software, which increases user productivity through data and audio CD creation, and CD copy or backup functions. Plus, users can now easily share what they write to CD-R and CD-RW media with most currently installed CD-ROM drives.
