  1. ThinkLight - Use the ThinkPad computer under less-than-perfect lighting conditions. The ThinkLight device illuminates the keyboard (Fn+PgUp key)
  2. Computer Display - The high-resolution, thin-film transistor (TFT) display provides clear and brilliant text and graphics
  3. Bluetooth button - Selected ThinkPad T30 systems have a Bluetooth power button and an indicator. If your computer is equipped with the Integrated Bluetooth features, you can use this button to power on and off the Bluetooth card.
    For Bluetooth systems, there will also be a Bluetooth status indicator. When lit, green, it means Bluetooth is operational. This indicator is on when the Bluetooth is on and not in suspend mode:

  4. Power-status indicators - The power-status indicators show whether the computer is in standby, hibernation, or normal mode, and show the charge level of the battery.
  5. Power switch - Use the power switch to turn on and off the computer (NOTE: Microsoft Windows users should use the Start menu shutdown option). The power switch can also be programmed to shut down the computer or put it into standby, sleep, or hibernation.
    • If you cannot turn off the computer from the Start menu, press and hold the power switch for 3 seconds.
    • If your computer stops responding and you cannot power it off, press and hold the power switch for 4 seconds or more. If the system is still not reset, remove the AC Adapter and the battery.
  6. TrackPoint - The keyboard contains the unique TrackPoint cursor-pointing device. Pointing, selecting and dragging are all part of a single process that you can perform without moving your fingers from the typing position.
  7. Forward and back keys - The Forward and Back keys on your keyboard near the cursor-control keys are used with your Internet browser, such as Netscape and Internet Explorer. They function like the forward and back arrows in the browser that move you back and forward to pages you have viewed in the order that you opened them.
  8. Built-in microphone - The microphone captures sound and voice when it is used with an application program capable of handling audio.
  9. TrackPoint buttons

  11. Touch pad buttons - Only available on models with the touch pad.
  12. Fn+Spacebar - Press the Fn + Spacebar to start the Full Screen Magnifier and enlarge the active window.
  13. Fn key - Use the Fn key to take advantage of the ThinkPad functions, such as turning on the ThinkLight. To use the ThinkPad functions, press Fn + the required function key marked in blue.
  14. ThinkPad button - Press the ThinkPad button to open Access ThinkPad, the on-board help system , which helps answer questions and provides quick access to software tools and key support Web sites.
  15. Volume control buttons - The built-in volume buttons enable you to quickly adjust the volume or mute the sound from your ThinkPad computer.
  16. System-status indicators - You computer has five system-status indicators: Drive in use, Numeric lock, Caps lock, Scroll lock, and Power on.
