The new 802.11A Wireless LAN CardBus Adapter provides wireless connectivity for portable PCs with a CardBus interface. The 32-bit CardBus architecture enables full use of bandwidth capability of up to 54 Mbps of a 802.11A wireless network. The 802.11A Wireless LAN CardBus Adapter is also supported by Access Connections as part of the Access ThinkPad solution offering. Access Connections enables users to simplify management for connectivity options on your ThinkPad notebook. This allows users to save wireless, Ethernet, and modem profiles, and easily switch between them without rebooting. The 802.11A Wireless LAN CardBus Adapter is the first of 's PC card wireless family to support the IEEE 802.11a standard with speeds up to 54 Mbps for wireless connectivity of Laptop PCs. The new adapter offers higher throughput and scalability compared to existing 802.11b PC cards which operate up to 11 Mbps. The adapter is easy to install, reliable, and has security features to help prevent unauthorized wireless LAN (WLAN) access. Fast access allows a mobile workforce to accomplish tasks instantaneously.
