ENVIRONMENTAL RELIABILITY: IBM ThinkPad computers are designed, built, and tested for high quality and reliability. When used properly in
standard business environments, a ThinkPad system should be a reliable computing asset for many years. However, harsh environments and abuse can damage ThinkPad computers since they are not intended to withstand extreme temperatures, dust, shock, or other physical environments. For example, a ThinkPad notebook should not be used in non-stationary environments, such as in-vehicle installations, without additional casting or shock-dissipation. IBM warrants that the ThinkPad system will conform to its Official Published Specifications when used in a suitable physical operating environment.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS: The following operating systems are supported.
Refer to the LIMITATIONS section for support issues unique to each operating system.
  • Microsoft(+) Windows(+) 98
  • Prior versions of these operating systems are not supported, including PC DOS 6.3, Microsoft Windows 3.0, MS DOS 6.0, IBM PC DOS 7, Windows 95, Windows 3.11, MS DOS 6.22

STANDARD SECURITY FEATURES:
  • Passwords
- A Power-on Password (POP) protects the system from unauthorized use. If a POP is set, the password prompt appears each time the system is turned on.
- A Setup Password provides a higher level of security than the POP. The Password protects the system functions from being used by unauthorized users and protects the hardware configuration from unauthorized modification. The Password prompt appears when the hardware configuration is changed.

OPTIONAL SECURITY FEATURES:
You can attach a Kensington lock to the keyhole on the back of the computer. This allows the system to be leashed to any convenient fixed point.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communications facilities.
