Installation Instructions
Notes:
If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software is already installed on your ThinkPad preload. Uninstall the software from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to enable Microsoft Bluetooth software.
Manual Install
This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.
[Downloading file]
Click once on the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
In the window to choose Run or Save, click the Save button.
Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click the Save button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.
[Extracting file]
Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
Locate the directory where the file was downloaded.
Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
In the "Select Destination Location" window, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse.
In the "Ready to Install" window, click Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.
In the Completing ..... Setup Wizard, uncheck the checkbox next to "Install ..... now", and then click Finish to cancel installation.
[Installing files]
Turn the Bluetooth power on.
If the "Found New Hardware Wizard" window is opened, select Install from a list of specific location (Advanced) and click Next.
Select Search for the best driver in these locations:, check "Include this location in the search", and enter the location you put the Microsoft Bluetooth support file into.
Click Next.
The driver will be installed automatically.
Finally delete the file saved in Step 4.
Uninstallation Instructions
Manual Uninstall
Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
Click Start, click Control Panel.
Select Add or Remove Programs.
Select ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software and click Remove or Change/Remove.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete uninstallation and restart the computer. Note: Make sure to restart the computer.
