Installation Instructions

Note:

  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
Manual Install

This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

[Downloading file]

  1. Click once on the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. In the window to choose Run or Save, click the Save button.
  4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click the Save button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.

[Windows 8 64bit]

To update the driver, follow the instructions below:

  1. Start Windows win8 and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  3. Click System and Maintenance, then click System.
  4. Click Device Manager.
  5. Expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers category.
  6. Right-click
    "Intel(R) 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Intel(R) 5 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Intel(R) 7 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Intel(R) 7 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Intel(R) ICH10D/DO SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Intel(R) ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Intel(R) ICH7M/MDH SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Intel(R) ICH7R/DH SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller" or
    "Inter(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller" and then select Update Driver Software...
  7. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
  8. Click Browse..., then select the driver location and then click Next.
  9. Click Close when the installation has completed.
  10. Click Yes to restart the computer.
Determining which version is installed
  1. Press Win+X.
  2. Press M to open Device Manager.
  3. At the popup window left, click Device.
  4. Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers category.
  5. Double-click Intel(R) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller.
  6. Click the Driver tab.
  7. Check Driver Version.
