If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Determining which version is installed section.
Manual Install
This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.
[Downloading file]
Click once on the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
In the window to choose Run or Save, click the Save button.
Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click the Save. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.
[Extracting file]
Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account.
Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.
Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
In the Select Destination Location window, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse.
In the Ready to Install window, click Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.
[Installing files]
Click Windows start button -> right click on "Computer" -> select "Manage".
Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, then you will find "! Unknown device" under Other devices.
Right click on "! Unknown device" and select "Update Driver Software..."
Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Click "Browse...".
Browse the software folder you extracted on step 9, and click OK.
Click "Next" then installation will start.
Click "Close".
Finally delete the file saved in the step 4.
Determining which version is installed
[Windows 8]
Hold down the Windows logo key and press X to open a menu at the lower-left area of the screen.
Select Device Manager from the menu.
Click System devices to expand device list.
Right click on "Intel Smart Connect Technology Device" and select Properties.
Click Driver tab.
Check Driver version.
[Windows 7]
Click Windows start button -> right click on "Computer" -> select "Manage".
Click Device Manager in the left pane.
Click System devices to expand device list.
Right click on "Intel Smart Connect Technology Device" and select Properties.
Click Driver tab.
Check Driver version.
If you don't find "Intel Smart Connect Technology Device", driver is not installed.
