Lenovo DSA Preboot is a system information collection, analysis, and diagnostics tool that is used by Lenovo Service and Support personnel to aid in the diagnosis of system problems.

Product overview

Lenovo DSA Preboot is a system information collection, analysis, and diagnostics tool that is used by Lenovo Service and Support personnel to aid in the diagnosis of system problems.

DSA Preboot collects information about the following aspects of a system:

  • System configuration
  • Network interfaces and settings
  • Hardware inventory, including PCI & USB information
  • Lenovo Easy LED status
  • Service Processor status and configuration
  • Vital product data, firmware, and basic input/output system
  • (BIOS) information
  • Drive Health Information
  • ServeRAID configuration
  • LSI RAID & Controller configuration
  • Event logs for Service Processors
  • Merged Devices information
  • Memory Diagnostics log
  • DSA Preboot Error log

DSA Preboot can also provide diagnostics for the following system components (if they are installed on the system):

  • BroadCom NetXtreme Ethernet I & II
  • Optical devices (CD-ROM, DVD-ROM)
  • Hard drives
  • LSI 1064/1068/1078 SAS RAID controllers
  • Remote Supervisor Adapter
  • Base Board Management Controller
  • Memory
  • CPU
  • Check-point panel test
  • CPU and Memory Stress tests

Additionally, DSA creates a merged log that includes events from all collected logs.

All collected information can be output as a compressed XML file that can be sent to Lenovo Service. You can also view the information locally through a generated text report file. The generated HTML pages may be copied to removable media and viewed from a web browser.
