If the display resolution is changed using the Nvidia X server settings to 1024x768 or 1280x1024 or 166x1200 and Then apply and save to X Comfit file, the font size may become small.

Use the X configuration option mentioned in the previous comment, or by hard coding a specific DPI value in GNOME, either by editing the GNOME configuration key /desktop/gnome/font_rendering/dpi in gconf-editor, or by clicking on the "Details" button in the "Font" tab of the "Appearance" control panel.
