When performing an unattended install of Microsoft Windows 2000 with hotfix 888111 integrated into the \I386 directory, the installation may stop with the following error: Setup was unable to copy the following file: hdaudio.inf If the user selects to skip that file, they will then see the same message for the following files: hdaudbus.inf HDAudres.dll HDASHCUT.exe HDAProp.dll HDaudio.sys HDaudbus.sys portcls.sys sysaudio.sys Any of the following systems during an unattended install of Windows 2000 with service pack 4 and hotfix 888111 integrated into the \I386 directory: - ThinkCentre A52 (type 8153, 8154, 8155, 8156, 8157, 8158, 8159, 8160, 8161, 8162, 8163, 8164, 8165, 8166, 8167, 8168, 8169, 8170)
- ThinkCentre M52 (type 8099, 8110, 8111, 8112, 8113, 8114, 8115, 8116, 8211, 8212, 8213, 8214, 8215, 9210, 9211)
The symptom is not limited to the systems listed above. None. No hardware should be replaced for this issue. As a workaround, install the HD Audio hotfix 888111 from the desktop: - Click Start
- Click Run..
- In the Open: dialog box, type C:\windows\i386\888111us.exe /u /o /z
- Click OK
