With no Bluetooth device in range, a pop-up search status window reappears when OK is clicked - ThinkPad T40
Symptom
The Widcomm Bluetooth Software continues to try to find devices that were not found in the previous device search even after the following error message is closed:

The search for devices is complete; no devices were located

This causes the error to repeatedly occur.

Affected configuration
Any of the following ThinkPad systems running Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows XP may experience this symptom.
  • ThinkPad T40

Work around
The work around is to terminate the search by clicking on the Searching For Devices icon while the application searches for devices in range or to install the latest Bluetooth software, version 1.3.2.19 or newer. Click here to obtain the latest Bluetooth software.
