Certain wireless LAN adapters are not supported by ThinkVantage Access Connections under Windows Vista - Notebooks

Symptom

Dual-band Wi-Fi Wireless Mini PCI Adapters and 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapters are not supported by ThinkVantage Access Connections on systems running Microsoft Windows Vista.

Affected configuration

Any ThinkPad or 3000 Family notebook running Microsoft Windows Vista with a Dual-band Wi-Fi Wireless Mini PCI Adapter or an 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter.

Solution

The unsupported wireless LAN adapters can be used for wireless connection via the network utility that is included with Windows Vista.

To use ThinkVantage Access Connections with a supported wireless adapter, you are required to install the latest version of ThinkVantage Access Connections, available from the Lenovo Support and Downloads Web site. The README for ThinkVantage Access Connections contains information on required versions of device drivers for the supported wireless adapters.
