ThinkVantage System Update takes a long time to launch on system running Windows 7 - ThinkPad
Symptom

Launching ThinkVantage System Update (TVSU) takes 15 to 60 seconds to appear on screen. This is a requirement by Microsoft on applications running on .Net framework. TVSU was developed using .Net Framework and works in conjunction with a Lenovo Certificate which has to be validated every 15 days via a CA database. The validation will take approximately 15 to 60 seconds or longer depending on network status and link speed.

Affected configurations

ThinkPad systems running Windows 7 with Ericsson WWAN module may be affected by this symptom.

Solution

This is a temporary limitation that will be fixed by updating TVSU application which will be made available after Windows 7 launch.
