When installing a PS/2 mouse for use on a system with Microsoft Windows Vista operating system, the mouse may take up to 40 seconds to be functional on first boot.

Affected configurations

Any of the following systems configured to use a PS/2 mouse with Microsoft Windows Vista:

  • ThinkCentre (All types)
  • Lenovo 3000 (All types)
Solution

This is working as designed for a system configured with a PS/2 mouse and Microsoft Windows Vista.

The PnP for Microsoft Windows Vista operating system is detecting the device and loading the proper drivers needed for the mouse. This issue should only occur on the first boot.
